Pizza – a favorite food for so many people. But if you’re following a Paleo diet, this is one favorite you may have to part ways with. Until now that is! Yes, you heard it here – it is possible to have pizza on an Paleo diet. This recipe doesn’t take much effort or time to put together, but resembles a New York style crust.
This recipe is for the pizza crust only. As you know, no one can agree on how to best top a pizza, so I won’t go into that here. I will share the sauce recipe used here however. I use the NOmato sauce from the Primordial Table.
Pizza Crust - New York Style (Paleo)
Ingredients
- 1 1⁄4 cup Tapioca Flour
- 1 tbsp Arrowroot Starch/Flour
- 1 tsp Sea Salt
- 1 tsp Dried Oregano
- 1 tsp Dried Rosemary
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 2 large Eggs room temperature
- 1/4 cup Coconut Milk
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the tapioca flour, arrowroot starch, sea salt, oregano, and rosemary.
- Crack the eggs into a separate bowl whip the eggs.
- Add the eggs, oil, and coconut milk to the dry ingredients.
- Mix with a spoon, then switch to working the dough together with your hands.
- If the dough is a bit dry, add water one teaspoon at a time. The dough shouldn't stick to your hands, but also shouldn't be crumbly or dry.
- Work the dough into a smooth ball. Then place onto a pizza pan / baking sheet.
- Start working the dough out into a pizza shape. Work from the center of the dough ball with the palm of your hand, working around the crust in a circle pushing outwards. Make the curst a smooth even thickness, leaving a slightly taller/thicker outer edge/crust.
- Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 7 minutes.
- Take the crust out of the oven and top with your favorite toppings.
- Bake for an additional 7-10 minutes until the pizza is cooked through.
